Salwar & Kurta sets are the most practical and sensible clothes for this summer. Be it a function or daily wear, kurtas would be the perfect way to go about it. Light weight fabrics would make a comfortable work wear whereas heavy fabrics would be perfect for an occasion.
Here are a few tips on choosing the right type:
• If you are Apple Shaped meaning plump on your sides especially above your waist then go for A-line Kurtas with thin borders. Stay away from stiff fabrics like heavy silk, tissue and brocade as it will make you look bigger. Always go for fabrics like soft silk, crepe, soft cotton, linen and georgette.
• It is also best to avoid frills, layers, and glitter work around the part of your body which you do not want to emphasis.
• If you are too thin and would want to add some volume to your figure, go for heavy silks, jute, thick cotton and make sure you avoid fabrics that are body hugging.
• To look taller go for long kurtas. Long, flared Anarkalis suit smaller body frames well. But since Anarkalis are not always comfortable as casual wear, an A-line cut salwar with a little flare will be more suitable as a daily wear.
• If you are on the shorter side, then avoid heavy prints. For short body types, long straight-fit tops ending 2 to 3 inches below knees will help elongate the body. Short tops and very long tops will not suit this body types.
• Bright, bold, shiny colors are suitable for thin body frames and subtle, earthy, rustic, dark colors are for broad body frames.
